The Unknowing Vinyl & Poster

Listening to “The Unknowing” is to reflect on the circle of life and what life is constituted of: its ups and downs, what could have been, and what’s not. It’s about the missed opportunities—not regretted but tinged with a sense of longing—yet also about finding joy in what we have had.

The poster is leaning against an iron wall. A second photo is a retouched detail of the poster.
Mandate

The album was composed by N-So, a project created by Nick Angeloni, a low-key electronic composer, audio engineer, pianist, and synthesist. The objective of this project was to create a poster for the concert tour that could be adapted regarding the date, location, and media, as well as the design of a vinyl sleeve and jacket.

The vinyl is scanned flat, facing forward.
Album

N-So created a landscape sparking vivid emotions such as fear, sadness, and hope. The album creates a safe space where we can hide, feel small, and be all right with it. “The Unknowing” is all about the poetry behind making mistakes and trying again.

Brief

To capture the poetic and destructive beauty of The Unknowing, we employed a blurred visual to symbolize perpetual movement, a sharp contrast between light and darkness, and a minimalist typographic approach.

Lost in the Fog

Imagine living in a universe where everything is blurry and you feel confused. That’s the daily reality for thousands of Canadians diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia. This graphic design visually represents the experience of individuals with Alzheimer's disease, who often feel lost in the fog.

Large-format poster, lying flat.
Mandate

Alzheimer's disease impacts memory, everyday tasks, and the ability to recognize familiar faces. This visual representation underscores the need for awareness and resources. By understanding Alzheimer's, we can create a supportive community, offering better care and a safe environment for those affected. Increased awareness and research aim to improve the quality of life for individuals with Alzheimer's and their families.

Detail of the visual used to create the poster (pastel crayon scribbles of colors).
Brief

Blurred edges, muted colors, and overlapping layers symbolize memory loss, spatial disorientation, and communication difficulties. These elements convey the confusion and isolation that people with Alzheimer's frequently experience, emphasizing the need for empathy, support, and understanding from caregivers and loved ones.

Graphic Design Program Brochure

To make school look sexy? Say no more. Let’s add some pizzazz to a booklet that will charm people into joining the graphic design program!

School

Dawson is about learning... well... everything, doubting most of the time, and laughing a lot. The Graphic Design program is mostly about stories, shared in the studio and in the all-purpose labs. We use a storytelling approach, which gives the effect of discovering the reminiscences of a found memory box.

Mandate

The goal was to create an 80-page booklet to guide interested new and future graphic design students at Dawson, the only Anglophone college offering a graphic design program.

Brief

Through the delicate and playful use of monospace type and blurred photography, we mixed the digital and the analog because we always start and go back to our hands. This approach intends to show how versatile the program is and that there’s no limit to finding a design solution.

The fashion book retraces the work of the renowned London-based and Hong Kong-born New Wave fashion designer Robert Wun, who explores the intricate relationship between humanity and nature.

Mandate

The objective was to create a cover, inside page layout, and a display case. We delve into themes of destruction, beauty, and the enduring essence of memory, weaving together elements of fragility and strength, chaos, and order.

Brief

To achieve this, we explored contrasted typography, juxtaposition of layers, and matte and glossy finishes, creating space for the artist’s work and crafting a sacred and intimate piece. We pay homage to Robert Wun’s work, an unapologetic symbol of resilience.

“Unpack” is about feeling confident enough to be who you are. It’s about feeling totally chill and owning who you are, being spontaneous and real; it’s about finding your groove and your true vibe.

POV

Through these three years, we learned that graphic design is chaotic. It’s not just about the selected projects; it’s also about the no's and the maybes in every project. It’s about the money that went through all the wrong printed copies, about the cries and the laughs. Everything changes so much during these three years, but we found our style as artists and as designers, and we learned how to leave our mark.

Mandate

The objective was to create a poster to announce the 2024 edition of our Graphic Design vernissage. The poster should reflect what the three-year program means to us and what makes our cohort special.

A strip of blue adhesive tape features the word "Unpack" printed on it. A poster hangs within a frame on a cement wall.
Brief

Our approach for this poster is inspired by Bauhaus and postmodernism, with a close-to-the-margins typography, minimalism, and a lot of white space. We wanted to create movement and dynamics with abstract rounded shapes that mimic fingerprints. We used bold type to make the look bold, intense, and chaotic.

The eclectic clientele seeks fresh, local, curated products of quality. The concept is clear: a simple and short-listed product selection, closeness with local products that guarantee quality, and reduce their ecological impact.

Vino de Mars is a simple place, where it’s a pleasure to meet someone, brunch with your family, or organize a 5 to 7 after work. Their identity grounds the bar in their neighborhood and reflects the strong culinary values and cultural diversity of Saint-Henri.

To meet the brand expectations, we designed a brand identity and a logo that would reinforce the crafty aspect of the brand, using desaturated and earthy color palettes and a crafty typography that mimics hand-cut and collage typography.

Brief

To reflect this effervescence, our new kinetic design aims to create a strong and coherent visual identity that can be displayed and adapted in limitless ways, especially on the streets. We’ve crafted a graffiti-inspired logo that focuses on movement, using overlapping typography to create abstract forms reminiscent of fireworks and street art, sparking a sense of belonging and community among Quebecois and Montrealers.

Salut!

Hello! I'm Andréa, a hyphenate artist and a junior graphic designer. You might wonder why I'm called "Crevette." Well, it was the cute nickname my aunt gave me as a child, and I always found it amusing. I often see myself as akin to a shrimp; I find mastery in adapting and empowerment in delicacy.
